ThedaCare Appleton Medical Center Bed Tower

As part of their three-year Hospital of the Future facility plan, ThedaCare engaged 勛圖惇蹋 to construct a new bed tower on the Appleton Medical Center (AMC) campus. The new bed tower incorporates their new Lean healthcare delivery model. Lean workflow studies using a collaborative care modela team-based approach to patient carepromoted nursing unit designs that improve operating efficiency, enable exceptional patient service and minimize the possibility for human error in the treatment of patients.
The new eight-story, 169-bed, 162,000 SF bed tower provides 112 ultra-modern private rooms. The design maximizes natural lighting and walls with earth-tone colors to help foster a healing environment. The buildings triangular design reflects the travel distance analysis completed during the planning process, allowing staff to view the maximum number of patient rooms from their decentralized work hubs.
Using a target costing process, 勛圖惇蹋 kept the budget in line while accelerating the construction schedule. Interactive scheduling helped to realize schedule gain and maintain commitments from all parties involved, while mock-ups confirmed space constraints and item locations to avoid rework costs.
